Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream – Nursing – Simulation-based Education

The Lawrence Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto invites applications for a part-time position (0.5FTE) at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream in the field of Nursing-Simulation-based Education to provide educational consultation, beginning on October 1, 2025.

The Position
The Faculty seeks applications from individuals with demonstrated excellence in simulation-based education (SBE), scholarship, and curriculum development. The Assistant Professor (Teaching Stream) will be expected to develop a simulation curriculum strategy that leverages our Clinical Simulation Lab Coordinator’s and faculty members’ experience and expertise in SBE, along with already developed SIM based learning assets and SBE programming from partners in the Toronto Academic Health Sciences Network (TAHSN) and community settings. The Assistant Professor (Teaching Stream) is sought for collaborating with faculty members, our Clinical Simulation Laboratory Coordinator and TAHSN partners to develop recommendations and a plan for the development, implementation and evaluation of a robust SBE program across undergraduate and graduate programs, including consideration of how SBE could be incorporated to enhance, and alleviate time and resource pressures, within the current SIM lab and clinical placements environment.

Candidates must have experience working with, teaching, or mentoring/supervising diverse students and/or groups along with the ability to contribute to fostering diversity on campus, and within the curriculum or nursing profession, demonstrated through the application materials. Candidates must also have demonstrated excellence in teaching-related scholarly activities.

Candidates will hold at least a Master’s degree in a health -related field, be eligible for RN registration in Ontario, and hold additional certification in Simulation (e.g. CHSE, CCSNE designations). Candidates with at least five years of SBE experience in Nursing education, and in both hospital and post-secondary settings are preferred. Project management, partner engagement, and program evaluation experience are preferred. Evidence of excellence in teaching should be demonstrable in a teaching dossier that outlines contributions to SBE curriculum development and evaluation and includes a statement of teaching philosophy. Excellence in scholarship should be evidenced in teaching and related pedagogical/professional activities. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
